Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure Pilot

LISAsoft developed browser based WMS, WFS and metadata viewers, red-line markup, extended GeoServer to support cascading WFS functionality, and contributed to an Engineering Report as part of this OGC testbed.

Workflow receiving community feedback, reviewing and updating by the data custodian, aggregating and publishing in real time.

Client : Open Geospatial Consortium, and GeoConnections

The Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) Interoperability Pilot developed a nation-wide demonstration of standards-based products that make immediate access to current data a reality. The CGDI Pilot showed that municipal, provincial and territorial authorities can update data and automatically make their up-to-date data available online in real time to those who need it, anywhere across Canada. This achieved the project’s goal: Maintain data at the source and access up to date data in real time.

Technically, this was achieved using standards based cascading and forward caching Web Feature Services (WFS) and Web Map Services (WMS) for data delivery. User red line mark-ups were captured and fed back to data custodians through GeoRSS update feeds.

LISAsoft contributed numerous suggestions to the pilot’s Engineering Report, which has been fed into the development of future OGC standards. LISAsoft also coordinated OGC outreach programs into the Asia/Pacific to disseminate the results of the testbed.
