uDig Software Training

LISAsoft trained one of CSIRO’s software development teams in geospatial concepts, design patterns and programming techniques.

Client: CSIRO, Urban Systems Program, CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems

A software development team within CSIRO’s Urban Systems program were starting to build a Java based application upon the Eclipse Rich Client Platform, and wished to incorporate geospatial functionality. Geospatial functionality for Eclipse is provided by uDig, a User-friendly Desktop Internet GIS application.

LISAsoft tailored a five day uDig training course to meet the interests and skill level of the Urban Systems Program team. The course explored GIS concepts, explained how to build a GIS Desktop application, then included advanced material on the GIS rendering. Our staff at LISAsoft have taught this course internationally over the last six years and it provides a smooth and professional introduction to key geospatial concepts and technologies for Java programmers. As explained by Cheryl, one of the course attendees, “Your workbooks were on track with what we needed and very easy to follow, what a nice change.”

This project demonstrates LISAsoft’s ability to communicate geospatial concepts and technologies to development teams.
