LISAsoft Expands Into New Zealand
LISAsoft is pleased to introduce its newest team member, Byron Cochrane, who is based in Auckland. Byron adds more than 16 years experience in GIS and programming to the LISAsoft team's expertise. In his most recent role as geospatial developer in the New Zealand Defense Force GIO (GeoSpatial Intelligence Organisation), Byron developed numerous GIS and web mapping sites and protocols using a variety of programming languages. He was instrumental in the implementation and development of an enterprise Metadata Repository built on GeoNetwork as part of an integrated GIS data management system for the NZ Defense Force.
At the national level in New Zealand, the movement into open source and GIS is largely standards-based, with whole-of-government solutions taking shape.
"Nationally, we are moving from discussion and development of standards into a more tangible result," Byron said. "A lot of effort has been going into creating a national infrastructure, including fundamental data, and SDI [Spatial Data Infrastructure] portals. Open source is growing interest as well, and there has been a fair initiative into it, particularly within the New Zealand government Crown Research Institutes."
Byron will be taking a lead role in LISAsoft's metadata related activities, including our commercial support and training offerings for GeoNetwork opensource.
